Despite global advancements in EdTech, millions of learners from low-income and underserved communities in Africa remain digitally excluded. AI tools in education are largely built for dominant languages and well-resourced contexts, leaving students in marginalized areas behind. This deepens existing educational inequalities, especially for girls, rural learners, and students with disabilities.
Governments and donors recognize this digital divide and are calling for ethical, inclusive, and contextually relevant AI solutions that serve all learners equitably, not just the digitally privileged.
The AI for Education Equity Project (AIEEP) is a localized innovation program that develops and deploys AI-powered learning tools tailored to underserved communities in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.
We focus on adaptive learning platforms, local language content delivery, and AI-assisted teacher support tools designed with and for the communities they serve. The goal is to bridge learning gaps, improve foundational skills, and support inclusive education systems using responsible and ethical AI.
